The idea for this day was put forward by the International Democratic Women’s Federation back in 1949. Representatives from various nations gathered then to expose how war and injustice have harmed children through cruel killings and persecution. Out of deep concern for children’s futures, they decided June 1st should be an international day drawing attention to children’s plights globally while opposing any form of abuse or harm against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
